Whats with the home/away team jerseys in football?

Posted on February 27th, 2010 by admin

I’ve been out of the loop on football lately. Can anybody tell me why the home team is wearing white and the away team is wearing home?

The home team chooses what jersey they want to wear. In a lot of hot weather early season games, home teams will wear white as it reflects sunlight rather than absorb.

How do I allow a team in fantasy football to change managers account?

Posted on February 27th, 2010 by admin

A manager of a football team in my league #1473 is in the hospital and will be unable to continue. I have a replacement manager to take over the team but I cannot figure out how to make the swap. It is after draft already and the season starts next week. I cannot delete the team and I am currently unable to obtain his e-mail password.

Yahoo only allows one manager. You cannot swap. The only way your replacement manager is going to be able to access that team is through the other managers account. Try to contact him again or just let the team play without him.

Should Randy Moss have been more of a team player at Oakland?

Posted on February 27th, 2010 by admin

If Randy Moss had been a team player at Oakland, whould he have ever gotten traded to the perenial super-bowl contenders? If he wants superbowls, which means he wants New England, didn’t his actions with Oakland suit his needs? Oakland traded him for a 4th round draft pick!
People, I’m not attacking Randy Moss, I’m defending him. I think he wants a superbowl ring, so he did what he had to in order to get traded to a team that will win the superbowl. His whole attitude is different.

If you were an elite WR on the worst team in the NFL for a season, how would you be playing? I would just expect a loss. He probably only played for stats not wins. Pats didnt want Moss, but Brady knew what Moss was really capable of.So yes, for the sake of the team, he should have been more of a team player, but its very understandable why he wasn’t.

How would volunteering at Habitat for Humanity help a company with team building skills?

Posted on February 27th, 2010 by admin

I recently started working at Habitat and need help with this presentation I have to give. The company is interested in learning how if their management team were to spend a day building a house for a needy family, how this would strengthen/reinforce/provide better team playing/building skills amongst their managment? If any one has any ideas it will help add to mine possibly. Thank you!! :)

At our build last saturday members had differances about how to put the haryplank around the windows. Everyone discussed openly their view and the they did it the way I told them to. I love Team Building.

Just going to a Habitat site and building by itself is not as good as an organized Corporate Team Building Exersize with proper planning and leadership.

I recomend sending prospective employees to see how they work in a team prior to hiring them.

Habitat for Humanity also offers a unique structured Team Building Day for corporate sponsors. The setting is a Habitat for Humanity construction site and the participants help build a home which, in and of itself, is a great team building experience. But in an addition, an individualized program can be conducted by Dr. Chris Fernandez (Ph. D. Organization Behavior, Case Western Reserve University) who currently teaches at Benedictine University in the field of Management and Organizational Behavior.

The day’s program will focus on teambuilding, conflict management, giving and receiving feedback, team problem solving and decision-making. Prior to the build day, a representative from the company will have the opportunity to discuss current work place issues with Dr. Fernandez who will then use the information to focus the day’s activities. Upon arrival on site, the group will receive instruction from Dr. Fernandez. Throughout the day, the group will have the opportunity to put the presented concepts into actual use in building a Habitat house. At the end of the day, Dr. Fernandez will conduct a debriefing session where the group can review the concepts, focus on what worked and what didn’t, and specifically what learnings can be taken back to the work environment.

THE TEAM BUILDING PROGRAM
The Team Building Program is a way for groups to take a day out of the office to work together as a team. The group will benefit from an informal team building experience, doing something they probably have never done before – build a home! The group will have to communicate, cooperate and get a job done. Leaders will emerge and lines of hierarchy will be broken down. No construction skills or tools are required. Salt Lake Valley Habitat for Humanity will provide skilled construction staff to train the volunteers and supervise construction. All tools, food and building materials needed for the day will be provided.

How old was your child when they got involved in team sports?

Posted on February 27th, 2010 by admin

Like playing on a soccer team, etc… was it through their school or a town league?

I’m just wondering because I think my town has a league that’s for toddlers and preschoolers (like maybe 3 and 4 year olds) and I’d like my daughter to try it out when she’s old enough, but my mom never put me on sports teams so I don’t really know much about it. Do you usually pay to be on town teams and school teams, or just pay for your equipment and uniform?

I have 4 children 11 and under. The 1st three started team sports at 5 because of the cutoff age, but the 4th started tball last year at the age of 3 because he was turning 4 before the cutoff date. He actually learned to walk on the fences at the baseball field because his older brothers played and we were at the fields A LOT.

You normally pay to be on town teams and it is normally for uniforms and field times. In my area of Florida, the fee is for hat, jersey, belt and socks for uniform (you are responsible for pants and cleats) and for the fields and umpires for the older levels. Each child brings their own equipment (gloves, bats, helmet), but they are given team equipment as well and bats and helmets can be shared. I always buy them their own helmets and there is no sharing because it is more hygenic. Gloves are difficult to share on a team since each child needs one to play.

How to build a real team work?

Posted on February 27th, 2010 by admin

have to do a essay to school about build a team…. company or any work…….

This is from an article on high performance teams from Harvard Business School. Make sure you give a citation so they don’t accuse you of plaigirism.

Susan Heathfield stresses the ultimate goal of team building is "striving to improve results for customers" (Heathfield, 2007, p. 1-3) and suggests 12 Cs for building a team:

Clear Expectations – Are expectations communicated effectively?
Context – Team members must know why they are on the team.
Commitment – Team members have to be motivated to be on the team.
Competence – Do all team members feel the team is comprised of competent people?
Charter – A team needs a charter and assigned responsibilities.
Control – A team needs to be empowered to bring about the results described in the charter.
Collaboration – Team members need to understand team development, roles, and responsibilities.
Communication – Team members need to communicate with each other and the organization effectively.
Creative Innovation – The organization must truly want change to be affected from this team collaboration.
Consequences – Both rewards and risk must be clear and the team members must feel accountable.
Coordination – Teams must understand the leadership hierarchy and ultimate customer.
Cultural Change – The organization must recognize the differences between the traditional business hierarchy and the team building model.

Tips for coaching a young girls soccer or volleyball team?

Posted on February 27th, 2010 by admin

I might be coaching a young girls volleyball team soon, or a young girls soccer team next spring, but I need some tips! I’ve played both sports so I do have some knowledge of WHAT to coach, but I don’t know HOW to coach. Any websites w/tips, drills, etc would be great too. Thanks!

Well depending on what age they are the best thing to teach them would be the basics. I don’t know volleyball but for soccer this would include dribbling, trapping, passing, shooting etc. Teach them proper technique and have them repeat it over and over. Also make sure to have them use their "weaker" foot when doing drills so that they do not become one-footed players. Positioning and tactics should also be worked on, but at a younger level the basic skills are more important. I have seen books on drills that you can use to teach certain skills. Books such as Dummy’s Guide etc. Also through Eurosport you can order educational videos and such. Link below.

The last seven teams to win the flag had a genuine home ground advantage?

Posted on February 27th, 2010 by admin

Obviusly a home final is a huge advantage but the grand final is at the MCG.
Is the momentum gained during the home and away season and the fact that these teams will always be harder to beat on there home ground the X factor in winning the flag, or is it just a coincidence and will the teams without a genuine home ground advantage will have there day in the sun soon?

Well, I guess the Cats have a genuine home ground advantage (being ‘the trip down the Highway) but much less than AAMI or Subiaco.

Given the concept of Australain FL – not VFL – then that’s gonna be part of it. But I do remember the days when North travelling to the Junction Oval was considered a big deal.

Anyway – the fact is though that, perhaps with the exception of West Coast a few years back (who really struggled most of the year in Melbourne), the champion teams have all built momentum by winning plenty of games in the away states.

Cats walloped Port, Sydney, Brisbane, West Coast, Adelaide at their respective home grounds (and then lost to Port at home :-S). I think the other champions did much the same.

So short answer …. No. I think champions will cope with "Home and Away")
