How can I create a soccer team at an elementary school?

Posted on November 11th, 2010 by admin

I am not employed by the school. I volunteer at this elementary school in Little Rock every day. Many of the students want to have an actual soccer team. Some of them are very good at this sport. I think it would be something good for this school… I just don’t know how to go about starting a team. Any suggestions? Even if I cannot start one at the school, what other places may have teams? Thank you! I would really like to make this happen for them.

1) Arrange to start a team with staff

2) Find availible facilities, like a field.

3) Find out who wants to attend and get their shirt size

3) Get hold of some football (soccer in US) kits, local sports stores should sell plain shirts and shorts with a vairity of styles go for something that looks nice (nice kit installs confidence in kids) like my personal favourite Black and White vertical stripes and solid black shorts (like newcastle utd) and a solid grey goalkeeping kit

4) Gain Sponsorship, ask around local buisnesses (like shops and car mechanics ect) if they would like to sponsor a local soccer team, this should help cover costs of kit, equipment ect. you should be able to get it printed on the front of the shirts for a cheep cost.

5) enrol your team into a local school soccer league and a couple of local cups+trophies+competitions.

6) hold practise sessions and enforce strick rules on attendence of practise (no attendece to practise without good reason no match, when i was at school my soccer coach decieded to use players who came the first week of practise or not any becuase they were better players and alienated the team every one quit coz they were sick of attending practise and other people who didn’t attend getting to play. Basic Skills should be covered, Short and Long Range Passing, Dribbling in and out of cones, Basic Shooting ect

7) upgrade facilities good goal posts with netting, well kept fields improve the playing enviroment for the players and generally looks nice.

8) along with sponsorship from a local buisness (or possible more since you can get sponsors for different thing like main sponsor, pitch sponsor, kit and equipment sponsor) do fundraising and get parents involved like booster clubs.

9) enjoy what you have created.

what does the usa national soccer team have to do to improve?

Posted on November 3rd, 2010 by admin

I thought they had a good soccer team at the world cup but i think we need one more good striker. Altidore I felt was the only one good. i dont think buddle, finley, or gomez are good enough for the national side. I think maybe a Kenny Cooper or Justin Braun could do better. so what are your thoughts on usa to improve their team?

They need to build their defense, and they need someone at mid that can control and distribute (Donovan is a mid, but he’s really a scorer, more than a distributor). I agree with you about Altidore being our best natural striker. I think Gomez is good enough. Buddle and Findley definitely have some improving to do.

What are some fundraising ideas for a soccer team?

Posted on October 29th, 2010 by admin

Hey everyone, my soccer team is going to europe in one years time and I was hoping someone could give me some ideas. There are 17 players going and it will cost somewhere in the vicinity of $3000 a player. So I will need ideas a little better than a bake sale!

bottle drives can round up a lot of money, i think my hockey team made $1750 in a couple hours

Car Wash
Lemonade/Beverage Stands

Or, a really great idea is a show. You could have tricks with Soccer balls and stuff, and if your team has any other hidden talents, you could show them in a show, and put up advirtisments up, have an entry fee of maybe like 5 dollars or something, and also be selling drinks and food.

How can I become a captain of the soccer team?

Posted on July 4th, 2010 by admin

I am a junior this year on the high school soccer team. I want to be a captain so other players will look up to me. The captain last year moved. I had 3 goals last year and I am motivated to do anything but, how can I officially become captain of my team?

well you have to work harder than everyone else make sure that your coaches notice this, always show leadership when people are messin around tell to quit playn or if some one isnt workin hard enough tell them to push it. IF another is doing his best but isnt good motivate them to do better this whole time make sure coaches are seeing dont scream at them or cause thats bad just a simple come on bro push it or come on guys lets work harder and motivate them make the rest of the team respect you be cool with them show respect and help out the freshman and jv players because their the future players always follow directions and listen to coaches, work harder than the rest stay and practice some more even after practice ends or practice at your home and you will show improvement and coaches will notice dont try to be a kiss up just ask coaches how you can get better every time theirs a play listen carefully and execute what they said and better than everyone else trust i played sports to i wasnt a captain but by choice i was to immature and loved to fuk around i even made it all the way to CIF and masters tournaments as a wrestler and was in the top 2 at my school but niether of us 2 where captains cause we prefered to be messin around and have fun
