Football Team Coming To Los Angeles
Posted on March 11th, 2010 by admin
Gov. Arnold Schwarzenegger said Thursday he had signed a bill allowing the construction of a 75,000-seat stadium that developers hope will lure an NFL team back to the Los Angeles area.
Schwarzenegger said he signed the environmental exemption bill last week but saved the announcement for a press conference in Industry, where the stadium would be built about 15 miles east of Los Angeles.
The bill would nullify a lawsuit filed by residents in nearby Walnut over the project’s environmental impact.
Schwarzenegger called the lawsuit frivolous as he addressed a crowd of union members wearing hardhats. Across the street, a dozen protesters held signs saying “No Stadium.”
“This is the best kind of action state government can create — action that cuts red tape, generates jobs, is environmentally friendly and brings a continued economic boost to California,” Schwarzenegger said.
Majestic Realty Co. is heading the stadium project after helping develop Staples Center, the downtown Los Angeles home of the NBA’s Lakers and Clippers and the NHL’s Kings.
Majestic has targeted seven teams as candidates to move to the Los Angeles area: the Buffalo Bills, Jacksonville Jaguars, Minnesota Vikings, St. Louis Rams, San Diego Chargers, Oakland Raiders and San Francisco 49ers.
The firm has said the teams are in stadiums that are either too small or can’t be updated with luxury box seats or other revenue sources an NFL club needs to thrive.
Schwarzenegger said the stadium would generate more than 18,000 jobs.
Majestic guaranteed parking lot attendants and concession stand workers would be paid middle-class wages, said Maria Elena Durazo, head of the Los Angeles County Federation of Labor.
“This is true economic development,” Durazo said. “It’s going to benefit everyone in our community.”

The Jacksonville …
The Jacksonville Jaguars are the most likely to go there, if not San Diego (They are unhappy with their stadium, and so forth) But Jacksonville seems to be the best option.

Being a Florida …
Being a Florida resident for too long, I can tell you it’s dirty politics keeping the jaguars in Jacksuckville. We don’t need the jags.

why does L.A. still …
why does L.A. still support the Clippers and Kings eventhough they always suck, like they have never won a Championship, but yet nobody supported the Rams and Raiders when they were here?
March 11th, 2010 at 12:09 pm
Bring the Rams back …
Bring the Rams back!!!!!!
March 11th, 2010 at 12:09 pm
seriously, why does …
seriously, why does San Diego get to have an NFL team but not L.A.? Heck, the Chargers have never even won a Super Bowl before
March 11th, 2010 at 12:09 pm
I hope the …
I hope the Jacksonville Jaguars move to LA so they won’t be in the AFC South anymore. I live in H-Town and a major Houston Texans fan. The Jaguars have given us headaches over the years and would love to see them go.
If they move they probably would switch divisions with the Kansas City Chiefs since they’re more closer to the south
So I guess the new AFC South and West would look like this:
South = Houston, Indy, Tennessee, Kansas City
West = San Diego, Denver, Oakland, Los Angeles

And why is that? …
And why is that? Inquiring Minds want to know. There’s only one reason!
March 11th, 2010 at 12:09 pm
They didn’t sell …
They didn’t sell out in LA in the 90,000 seat Coliseum. Blackouts were common when they were in LA and in Oakland.
March 11th, 2010 at 12:09 pm
thats what I mean, …
thats what I mean, thats why I am saying that all of the Buffalo Sports teams suck because of those 4 straight losses
March 11th, 2010 at 12:09 pm
Bull Shit! The …
Bull Shit! The reason why Georgia moved the Rams to St. Louis is because that is Her Hometown, for one. And Al Davis was misled by the City of Oakland, when they promised Al Davis that the Raiders would sell out 75% of the Oakland Alameda Coliseum when the Raiders would come back to play.
But how are the Raiders doing now? Definately not selling out!

Los Angeles is ” …
Los Angeles is “Assed-Out” of a Football Team because of 2 Jackass Owners!
One of them dead mentally, and the other one dead physically.
March 11th, 2010 at 12:09 pm
No shit! And since …
No shit! And since their 4 Straight Super Bowl losses what have the Bills done?
JACK SHIT!!!
March 11th, 2010 at 12:09 pm
Seriously, why does …
Seriously, why does Los Angeles, the second largest city in America, still lack an NFL team?
March 11th, 2010 at 12:09 pm
All the Buffalo …
All the Buffalo teams suck because the Buffalo Bills lost 4 straight Super Bowls in the early 1990’s
March 11th, 2010 at 12:09 pm
yeah but California …
yeah but California is the largest state in America in terms of Population, it has the most citizens out of all the 50 states, and the Los Angeles Metropolitan area is the largest Metropolitan area in the U.S. right now currently without an NFL team, that is why it deserves one, I live in Orange County and I hate having to drive to San Diego just to go to an NFL game.
March 11th, 2010 at 12:09 pm
Yes i hate band …
Yes i hate band wagoners. I have stuck with the vikings for a long time. They finally had a good team, but couldn’t quite cut it. hopefully they will get favre back and win a superbowl.
March 11th, 2010 at 12:09 pm
Yea but the Jets …
Yea but the Jets are getting better, and the Giants are going downhill, ever since they squeaked by the pats in that superbowl. It will soon shift. As for Yankees-Mets, that’s how it will always be.
March 11th, 2010 at 12:09 pm
They left because …
They left because they wanted new stadiums. New York is the real bandwagon city. Everyone there likes the Yankees and Giants and ignore the Mets and Jets because they don’t win.
March 11th, 2010 at 12:09 pm
Like True Sports …
Like True Sports fans stick with their team no matter what happens, even in hard times, even if their team loses in the Finals or misses the playoffs, chokes, etc.
March 11th, 2010 at 12:09 pm
I guess thats the …
I guess thats the reasons why the Dodgers and Lakers have always been popular and have had huge fan support in L.A. because they are always good. C’mon, in the Lakers 63 year history, they have only missed the playoffs 5 times, and have been in the NBA Finals 30 times, winning it 15 times, 10 times while in L.A. Meanwhile the Dodgers have won 5 World Series in their tenure in L.A. Seriously, I hate bandwagoners, real true fans stick with their team through thick and thin
March 11th, 2010 at 12:09 pm
What I hate about …
What I hate about L.A. Sports fans is that most of them are Bandwagoners, like they only support the team if they are winning championships, or just having great seasons. A lot of people say that the reason why the Rams and Raiders left back in the early 90’s is because there was not enough fan support in their last years there, that the games were not selling out.

California already has the 49ers,chargers and raiders they don’t need another NFL team
March 11th, 2010 at 12:09 pm
Jacksonville suks …
Jacksonville suks cock! Please don’t bring the Jaguars to Los Angeles!
And as far as bringing a Buffalo team here to this city. Hasn’t someone already learned their lesson yet with the Clippers? You can’t bring a Buffalo Team here expecting to be winners because it’s a proven fact that Buffalo Teams suck!
March 11th, 2010 at 12:09 pm
No, seriously …
No, seriously randalon, The Chargers were thinking about coming to Carson to play Football, which is off the San Diego Freeway, but the City of San Diego struck that down immediately. So no, the Chargers will never leave San Diego!
