How long will it be before the Australian football/soccer team will be a very good and respected team?

How long before the Australian football team will be respected and be a powerful team to take on the European and South American teams? How long before even teams such as Brazil, Germany and so on will regard them as powerful opponents instead of hopeless amateurs? They don’t even have a proper coach yet.
Not until Australia wins some significant games. Also maybe if we have more public support.

Holland and Italy already respect them after very good results against both teams leading-up to and during the world cup.
Australia can take on the big teams in a one-off game however it will be many years before they can do well in a tournament due to lack of depth.
For example, if Australia loses a few key players due to injuries or red cards then the team is in a mess. Brazil can field 2 team that can beat Australia.

They have some time yet to get to that level, but I think they have already earned some respect from fans, players, coaches, and teams because of their outstanding and unexpected play in the World Cup.
It will take some time for them to get to Brazil’s or Germany’s level, but I think in time they will slowly advance upwards. They just need the time to really become a strong side with strong and consistent players.

I think they should learn that football is not rugby, football is more about skill than stregth. All their players are sooooo strong, but they have no skill. That way they will reach nowhere.

They showed some good stuff in the WC this year but its hard playing against the big dogs like that. id say if they can keep building we could see them being very competative in about 4-5 years
