1980 U.S. Olympic Hockey Team Miracle On Ice

Posted on February 18th, 2010 by admin

Real game footage of the major points of the 1980 Olympic Hockey game between the US and USSR. Original play-by-play call of The Miracle On Ice, perhaps the greatest upset in the history of team sports. When the USA shocked Russia, 4-3, at the 1980 Lake Placid Winter Olympics, Curt Chaplin was covering the game as a sports reporter for the ABC Radio Network. Standing on a camera platform in the crowd, he did the play-by-play call of the game into his tape recorder, capturing the event on tape forever. Now, after 25 years, these tapes have been rediscovered and matched to the video. The result is a dramatic, stirring and completely original experience for sports fans all over the world. Now you can relive the #1 sports upset of the 20th Century in a whole new way, through new eyes and a new voice. Still as fresh and exciting as the day it happened.

    I will take this …
I will take this game as the greatest upset, Game 8 was a great game but the upset was that the Soviets extended the 72 Series to 8 games, Every one expected Canada to win 8 games easily, We had no idea how good they were and that they had such seasoned veterans,

This is how I remember the Game. It was not live on T.V., but it was live on the radio in Duluth Minnesota, where I grew up. I got home from school we turned the game on KDAL, and the listened to the incredible call. We of course turned the T.V. on when ABC broadcast it in tape delay. Most people think this won the Gold Medal, but that was won on Saturday when the U.S. beat Finland. Something I will never forget.

because the best Canadians were in the nhl, but full marks for team usa, the best americans as few as there awere in 1980were also in the nhl . greatest upset ever, greatest game ever?? lol, this game doesnt crack the top 10,000 in reality. the greatest hockey game ever has to be game 8 of the 72 Canada/Russia summit series. But hey,if this makes america proud, then it matters for that reason alone.
